Ok, Iselle made landfall as a tropical storm at about 2:30 this morning, hitting the southern point of the island. Where I'm at, there was heavy rain and high winds with some pretty strong gusts, but no damage of any significance......at least in my immediate neighborhood. At my house, the only damage was my coconut tree losing a bunch of nuts and fronds. When I left for work at 3:45 this morning, I couldn't see any damage to the house, so that's good.....but then again it was dark. No injuries here. Thanks all for your prayers.
Got home about 30 minutes ago from playing 2 gigs. Just finished my 2:45 am dinner. ;~: Gotta say, no matter how big or small the crowd, it's always a wonderful thing to play music for them.
Hurricane Julio passed north of the state today. We got nothing from that one, although I think the northern islands may get some rain from it.
Wondering how many more bands of rain we're going to get from the tail end of Hurricane Bertha that somehow made its way east across the Atlantic and dumped a load of rain on us the last couple of days. So because it's too wet to be out on the bike I earned some geek points and just reassembled the camera lens I dismantled to fix. Turned out the autofocus mechanism had a plastic cog in it that broke. That was an interesting project to do.
I know what I SHOULD do today. I got a new computer the other day (the old one crashed). Sometime today I should get it up and running. Have to get a dial up modem for it before I can go online. Will look into that while I am running around today. When I get that up and running I won't have to go to the library to use a computer. I got a new cell phone and it came with a portable hotspot and I have been using that some with my tablet but it only has 10 gigs of data per month ($20 additional if you go above that) so I am using it sparingly, plus hard to type much with the tablet.
Trying to figure out where my passport is, as it seems to have disappeared after being shipped to the UK consulate...
Yeah, they've already disconnected our call twice - charging us both times, mind you - and now they're closed (because operating in North America, as if you were on UK time, makes total sense).
After I was married and had to renew my green card, they sent all my paperwork to the wrong state which delayed everything for several weeks. Oopsies. Of course they can get away with such stuff, without so much as an apology, but have Mr Average Citizen not be forthcoming with the correct paperwork by whatever deadline, there's hell to pay. Awesome double standard. Wish I could get away with it. 8)
Depends if I can get through to an actual person: if they didn't have any people to speak with, then it'd be the only thing they aren't doing to make communication nigh impossible.
