Er, bought a car (gotta teach my brain not to smash my hand against the door trying to get to the gear shift), so house hunting will now be a billion times easier.
They put the steering wheel on the wrong side, remember? And look right, not left, before pulling out of an intersection...
Someone should tell the UK that people don't drive with jousting poles anymore :S The driving experience wasn't bad, but you should have seen the dealer's face when I told him I haven't driven in 2 years and never in the UK. It's strange having empty space on the left of the car, so that will take some paying attention to, and since my brain reads speedometers in km/h, it was unexpectedly strange to see 70(mph) but be going 113kph. Ah well, a few trips to the golf course and it'll all be good.
There is no way I could function, driving with the wheel on the right, using the left lane, except perhaps with a mind-wipe and extensive, intense training
Like... *Sees roundabout and needs to stop because busy* brake clutch *slam* exclaim ... find gear shift with left hand, survive 1st gear 4th gear Missed a few gears there...
Going cold-turkey from Acetaminophen Hydrocodone 5-535 (Semi synthetic opiate). Miraculous for severe pain, but otherwise fairly nasty. Was able to eat warm soup for the first time today. Next appointment 2 weeks 8)
Contemplating the purchase of a pickup truck. Testing out a 2012 GMC Sierra 1500. Maybe a little too pricey for what we can afford...
Watched a juvenile squirrel playing with what I think is a tiny young finch. They leapfrogged each other and chased one another around in circles 8)
Six days following oral surgery - still whacked out on Amoxicillin antibiotic (one more day); have reduced Hydrocodone to one a day; still swollen, sore and unable to eat anything but the softest foods. But the bone graft has taken and the healing is slow but actually quite impressive. Working for limited stretches in the yard, then lying down - upper 80s all week. Grateful to be getting it done 8)
Going to give the car one last look over, read over the dealership papers (yep, I'm one of those people who sits and reads contracts for however long is necessary) and if all is good, picking up a car: 2013 Golf.
Specifically, a 1.6L 2013 Golf TDI S (Bluemotion) diesel. Just over 26.5k miles done on it by the previous owner. Managed to get it home *and* parallel park without hitting anything, so now it'll just be a challenge of finding a parking spot for it for the next couple months as we don't have one, and the road we would park on is completely closed for resurfacing.
