Not field mapping. Just making some maps/illustrations to go into a report. So, GIS software, government geological and topographic data, whatever data the geo/prospector has got, and CorelDraw. :)

Nothing like Tom Hardy's role as Fitzgerald in "The Revenant." An amazing piece of acting 8)

"The Revenant" is somewhat reminiscent of Richard Harris' excellent "Man In the Wilderness" (1971). The beautiful imagery is simultaneously brutal as is the movie as a whole. But the brutality is historically and culturally realistic while the story is partly based on actual fact.

I think "Man In The Wilderness" has more literary impact (a cult classic) and the characterization and acting (John Huston, e.g.) is outstanding. Several of the scenes are unforgettable, imo.

"The Revenant" focuses acutely on suffering and cruel injustice with very little in the way of redemption. But I recommend it because it is so realistic, flawlessly shot and convincingly portrayed by all actors.

I agree re: The Revenant, but on the whole I didn't like it very much. That's my own fault though: I can't just ignore minor plot issues (like the final episode of 'The Night Manager' -- completely ruined it for me), and there were a few things about The Revenant that seemed too forced. But I'm glad Leo finally got his oscar ;)

Debating whether or not to start driving for UBER and LYFT next month as a means of defraying expenses for, particularly, excursions into the City and the Bay Area. Using one's own vehicle as a sort of glorified taxi, one is dispatched through an app. I would also cover the Sacramento/Roseville - Northern Cal area, depending on where I am.

I have contact and a certain rapport with a large group of tech workers in the City and could actually stay busy just shuffling them around.

Not an ideal gig by any means, but one sets one's own hours and is either on or offline by choice. A great means of subsidizing if one puts in the time. The company(s) share insurance costs (little else).

A little less time doing construction, perhaps.

Spent all day yesterday in the Emergency Room with my GF and her sister. Got a message from my GF at 6:30 AM (I'm not usually even alive at that time) asking me to take them to the ER. She had been very sick, unable to keep anything down, for several days. Part of the time I was shuttling between 2 different rooms in the ER. Didn't get out until almost 5 PM. Was exhausted by that time. Went home and did a crash and burn. Didn't even go to the men's group that evening. (Had warned them earlier that I might not be there."

Gonna head up to my friends house in about an hour and a half to watch WrestleMania (starts around 2 pm here).

The 3 matches I'm interested in are:

    Brock Lesnar vs. Dean Ambrose

Lesnar hasn't gotten pinned in a match in over 2 years. I'd like to see WWE keep it that way, but at the same time, Ambrose is so over with the WWE Universe, it would seem logical for him to get the win (which would more than likely come with some sort of interference in the match).

Either way, Ambrose will be logging in some time in Suplex City, complements of Lesnar.

    Undertaker vs. Shane McMahon

This one intrigues me the most. I don't see any possible way they wreck Undertakers legacy by having him lose to a "non-wrestler", especially one who hasn't been around for over 5+ years. But with the angle involved, it almost seems set up for a McMahon win.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship, HHH (c) vs. Roman Reigns

The WWE has been trying for the better part of 2 years to get Reigns over as the new top guy in the company. The only issue is that the "Universe" has poo-poo'd it in spades.

It's almost a guarantee the Reigns gets the belt here for the 3rd time, which the crowd will absolutely hate....and the WWE knows it. (which has actually been a source of frustration for the creative team) That being the case, I smell a double turn here during the match (HHH turning baby-face and Reigns going heel).

The rest of the care looks interesting, but these are the only 3 which have my main interest.

Working my way through "The Force Awakens," in segments - on PC and headphones, my preference - and totally enjoying it 8)

The feel of the story is quite faithful to the "Star Wars" debut, and the technical imagery is tremendous, as expected.

Still working on the story line, which hasn't disappointed, so far. 8)

Hard to believe Merle Haggard passed away on his 79th birthday :(

When I was a lad, my step-mom would send me down to my uncle's cowboy bar, called the "Hitch'n Post," to fetch my step-dad home for supper. The juke box would be blaring at all times, usually with the likes of Merle Haggard, my all-time favorite.
