I'd just be recognized as a hipster for referencing a quintessential English TV series that the youngin' know little about.
The house is being Christmasfied as I type. We finally got to use our block heaters this week. And on Monday, the entire school is planning an afternoon skate on one of the local lakes since there has been no snow on them with this cold weather.
The (small) lakes are frozen already enough to skate? I miss that. We had man made lakes to skate on as a kid.
That comes with living at approximately 55° north latitude. When I was a kid, in Vancouver we used to get freezes enough to skate on lakes, cranberry fields and what-not. There might have been one, maybe two, years like that in the last 30 odd years.
I am getting the feeling I need to go North for Christmas. Sledding (happens but very limited where I live for like a day or two) and skating...in the mountains yes, indoor where I live.
I'm feeling the desire to head to the North Pole. I just ordered my Santa Boots and I found a Santa suit that I like. May order it eventually. Unfortunately I can't order the "stuffing" I would like because the company has stopped taking orders until February.
So, Sunday after church... I've really got to get some skates. But that might be it for good lake skating as the snow is expected tomorrow and for the next few days.
^^ Looks like fun! We used to skate a lake in the winter time. I miss it sometimes ... not the cold, but the skating.
The ice does not appear frozen..it looks more like skating on water! Skating is freedom to me..even though I can remember falling down a lot, improvement, practice, carried it's own grace. I also enjoy watching hockey games. Maybe this is why my daughter wants to go to school in Canada..something in the blood.
The locals here say that the ice quality for these few days was very good and quite rare. You could actually see through the ice to the bottom in many places. It all comes to an end as we just had a couple inches of snow dumped on us today.
At my age I can watch Netflix stuff multiple times without remembering too much, one hurray for getting older as 2 hurrays are defefinitely too many. But Netflix has the nasty habit removing stuff after some time. Now I found "Playon" on the net. For $5 a month I can now download the stuff I want to see again.
Watched Bill Maher embarrass Canada's new Minister of international trade, and now onto the new Mission Impossible.
