Golf is a weird game. It's like throwing sticks to a dog when you don't have a dog and just have to go and get the stick yourself. It makes as much sense as mailing your slippers to a town 200 miles away and then spending a a day driving there to get them back again.
A righteous hate, surely. I still consider the tickets money well spent... 14 hour day, and I can barely move >.<
Saw 'em all. Kuchar is probably the most entertaining to watch, but you know, even got in some Langer, Cink, etc.!
Long walk today. I got in about 15 miles before rain stopped play. It had been raining for the last two hours or so of my walk but I got to a point where it was getting heavier and the walk just wasn't any fun, so I called my wife to come and rescue me from the rain. Had it not been raining quite so hard I had another 5 miles or so planned to get back to the car. Oh well.... it was good while it lasted.
Back from camping. Pretty nice spot and free camping to boot - even free firewood. Picture was taken last night at around 10PM while kayaking.
Just finished a monster session of breaking walls and repairing them again. I hate the process of chiseling out low quality cement, cleaning the joint, mixing fresh cement, and packing it into the joint. I have really grown tired of it, more so than anything else I'm needing to do in the house. So I decided to get a load of it out of the way, and wielded my hammer and chisel with a vengeance against my wall. I went through the best part of 10lb of cement mix, just replacing cement that was badly done. Now I can leave it to dry and go do something more interesting. Next step is to get insulation panels cut and put into place. That will be a really good place to reach, not least because it will save me heating oil once winter arrives.
Did a bit more work on my walls. During the time I was clearing out some of the interior cement I noticed chinks of light, which meant I also had problems with the cement in the outside face too. I picked off a few of those. Not very many because it was raining and I only wanted to do areas I could be confident wouldn't get wet. Most of them were under shelter from the porch. Here's hoping for less noise and less cold in the winter.
Not been a good couple of weeks. A week ago Tue I had an appointment with my Primary Care physician. Next day I had an an appointment with my eye dr. Got some surprising good news there. Chiropractor the next day. Friday I was back at my dr with an infection on my thumb (painful when they drained it). Sat. I was at the hospital (emergency room) with the thumb. (It had to be drained again and my dr wasn't open). Monday I was back in the emergency room with something stuck in my throat. (I have a stricture in my throat. I could breathe, but not swallow). They stretched my throat. I got out of the hospital last night. As I mentioned I did get some good news from the eye dr. They checked my distance vision and it came up 20/20. Not really surprising. Then she had me put on my reading glasses (cheep over the counter readers) and she checked my reading vision and that came up 20/20 as well. That was surprising.
Another fun packed day of hitting my masonry chisel and hoping to hit the chisel more often than I hit my thumb. Some days I wonder. Then more cementing, more spraying building foam to seal the gaps that seem to be just about everywhere, and got a couple of pieces of insulating panel in as well. I think I'm close to a place where I won't need to do any more cementing in this room, which will be ever so nice. I know there's more cementing to come, I bought 40lb of cement mixture yesterday so I'm ready for it because I was down to my last 10lb bag. I think I've used about 100lb of it so far, and getting really tired of it. Then just for some added fun I decided to use my angle grinder to prune off a protruding edge on one of my concrete blocks. It's quicker than trying to use a chisel, involves less chance of hitting my thumb with my hammer, but using an angle grinder in the corner indoors is interesting where dust and mess is concerned. In the end I got a fan to pump the dust out of the window. Wearing a rubber respirator in this weather is an experience. I think once the cement is dry and the building foam is dry I can cut away the surplus foam and will hopefully be able to move forward rapidly with getting insulation panels fitted. Some days I can see an end in sight.
