I agree. I would never stop being friends with somebody simply because of their political leanings. I may question them about why they're so keen on electing somebody who'll do what she can to take more of our rights and more of our money to give to others, but stop being friends? Nope...
I don't understand the emotional ties to any vanilla politician that someone doesn't even know personally. I don't love or hate Hillary Clinton. I don't love or hate Donald Trump. I don't love or hate Barack Obama. I don't know them. I'm a voter, and I'm emotionally removed from the people I vote for. Which allows me to assess them objectively before I decide to hire them for whatever job they're applying for (i.e. vote for them). Which is my duty as far as I'm concerned. What does love or hate have to do with anything? Anybody who actually manages to hate either our President, or our current presidential candidates, has fallen victim to someone's emotional manipulation, somewhere. Which is the #1 reason I stay far, far away from most of the popular media outlets, because emotional manipulation is their game, and I refuse to be taken by any of it. Which is also the #1 reason I hardly watch TV, because of the emotionally manipulative advertising that everyone's been conditioned by for decades without realizing it. That's also why I don't listen to a lot of sermons or read Christian articles either, because the emotional manipulation there is even more horrifying, once you realize what's happening and pay actual attention to it. Nope. I can think for myself and reach my own conclusions and make my own decisions. That's called being an adult.
I agree. It's not right to hate anybody. Sure, despise everything they stand for and they advocate for if that applies. But hate THEM? Of course not...
Looking very close right now, only 10 minutes to 8PM, and it looks almost like Trump might pull it off.
Too early to call it, though. We'll see. I wonder how many people, especially particular celebrities, will make good on their promises to move to another country if Trump pulls it off?
Trump's got some pretty solid leads in a few states that have not been called yet. A lot of posters at another forum that I read for a lot of election stuff (not BF) are borderline panicking - a fairly progressive crowd there. What celebrities made those promises?
I must say that, since no one around takes Trump seriously, a Trump presidency will be comedy gold. As bad as that is, I'm actually kinda chuckling. 0:0 ;.;.
My wife just told me that the Canadian government immigration site has crashed. I just checked and it has an internal server error message.
Since it looks like Trump is gonna win, I'm gonna have some fun. Over/under for when Trumps first idiotic Twitter post is (As president) Who will be the first foreign leader who twists Trumps underwear What country will Trump nuke first Over/under for how many 4 year old nicknames will Trump come up with in 4 years I'll probably come up with a few others. 0:0 Going to have to start recording Late Night shows now.
Doctrine of mutually assured destruction means (hopefully) that nobody will be nuking anyone. My bet is that the most likely nuclear opponent, Putin, has Trump's number. Stroke Trump's ego with the occasional compliment, and basically get what you want.
Ya know. Trump is the only candidate I see surrounded by Christians praying for him. I have my reason for not liking Trump, but I consider Pence and others the hand of God gently trying to guide trump. It is my prayer that Trump responds positively. If I did vote, and for Trump, I must say his strength are those he promises to elect under him. The supreme court, and may anti-abortionist. And I also pray for the regeneration of the Clinton family, and that they are drawn to the Lord. I pray that they seek the truth, and God be merciful on them. God bless, William
All I see in media outlets are salty people pronouncing doom and gloom and declaring the end of the world. Which I know would have happened either way, just from different people. Very interesting to see the high emotional stock people put into the office of President. Very interesting. Also very disturbing.
All sorts of celebrities promised to move out of country if Bush 43 won. They never moved. More empty promises.
I guess the system wasn't rigged after all. I kept hearing in the news how it was shocking and an upset. Is it shocking only because the Media was feeding us those random "polls" that showed Hillary was going to win? And who exactly does those polls? And perhaps they need to do away with them.
Where would they move? CANADA? The only thing more odorous on my social media feeds than the American political commentary has been the Canadian commentary on America. Mind you, I always seem to under-estimate an American's ability to debase and self-flagellate. Maybe those anxious to move are actually looking for a society that openly hates them.
This is the best explanation I've read about how this happened. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/nov/09/donald-trump-white-house-hillary-clinton-liberals
Well, it could have been rigged by Trump. Yeah the pollsters will be asking questions. It almost looks like Brexit again. We had a similar situation here in BC a couple elections ago. 538, those poll aggregators were noting a increased likelihood of Trump in the last week. But most polls seemed to be herding toward a certain number.
