As I was watching my church service this morning and they were singing Silent Night I suddenly realized that the carol has it wrong. It is a beloved carol and I love it as well but it has it wrong. In the first verse the last words are "Jesus Lord at your birth." That's wrong. Jesus wasn't Lord at his birth. He was Lord long before that. John 1:1f says "In the beginning was the word. And the word was with God and the word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. Through Him was everything made and without Him was not anything made that was made." This means that Jesus, The Word, existed long before He was born of Mary. Jesus was God in the flesh. That means He existed with God from eternity. If He existed with God from eternity then He was Lord from eternity as well. Not just "at His birth."

It was probably already wrong at "silent night".

Given the crowd in Bethlehem and the animals in the stable you're probably correct
