My brother has gone through episodes -- it's terrible. But I've also met people who seemed completely gone, who always gave off a strange mix of delusional, but something was wrong and they didn't know what.
My one time moment (lasting less than a second) of psychosis was during my deep depression in 88-89 when I saw a different face in the mirror. Not funny. Not related to depression, I also remember 2 dreams which had such an impact on me for days, weeks, months (diminishing fortunately) I had to use all my reasoning it was not real, that in case-1 it did not happen, in case-2 I did not do it. Sounds familiar?
I've never suffered psychosis, but my dreams (read: nightmares) when they happen, would put the fear of God in anyone. I'm surprised the sheer mental disturbance hasn't killed me.
I agree brother. Many of mine are down right terrifying. I scare my wife all the time. Once, I awoke from a deep sleep, running to the window ( at about 0300 ) screaming “ There is a train coming, watch out it’s going to hit us!!” I scared the living daylights out of my wife. It was weird! I frequently have nightmares of a T-Rex crashing though homes in a subdivision ( as per movie ) and chasing me. Go figure. Perhaps I should lay off the Dino stuff ? That and ‘aliens’ ( the movie ) big fan, but man those xenomorphs are scary
In the last couple of years, I've woke up talking to Virginia. End up being depressed for an hour or so when I realize it was just a dream. Always wake up as soon as I reach out to touch her.
Yeah, but Tom, admit it. You wake up talking to V because you knew that if you waited until she woke up you'd never get a word in otherwise! I can't imagine how much you miss her... what a gem.
