Sad and alarming to say, but I am often amazed at the growing chasm that exists between current manifestations of charismatic influenced discourse and, well, reality, whether Biblical or practical. Invoking the "Spirit" invariably frees one from any adherence to contextual standards. State your opinion, however contrived, and call it "God's viewpoint," and heaven forbid you argue with God. Perhaps suitable for another thread.
Same rhetorical technique as current discussions of race and politics define the argument in a manner that cannot be responded to and then declare yourself the victor and your opponent not merely wrong but evil
And for good measure anything that even might affect different races differently is inherently racist. The Electoral College isn't merely undemocratic (of course it was explicitly designed that way, but never mind the facts) but it's racist. Because lots of non-white people live in, say, San Francisco and very few non-white people live in Montana, the system is racist because it gives extra weight to whitey's vote. It wasn't racist when we had a black president but Orange Man Bad and therefore it is racist now. Clearly. I'm surprised people haven't been protesting the coronavirus for being racist, given current statistics suggest it affects non-whites more severely. It will create a potentially interesting situation if a vaccine is ever developed - will non-whites be given the vaccine first? What then happens if it transpires the vaccine has unexpected side-effects that are overlooked in the rush to approve it, and it transpires that hundreds of thousands of non-whites have effectively been guinea pigs in a failed medical experiment?
I find racist is just overused/not used correctly anyway. I'd rather use the word 'prejudice' as that seems closer to what most complaints and cases are about. At least I tend to view the word racism/recist as an inherent superiority of one racial group over another.
And the term is used to an absurdest degree, at least in major urban areas. While the entire area reeks with racial bias the word "racism" is weaponized.
True, when any incident involving a white cop and a black suspect is automatically assumed to be racist the whole thing gets silly. It's not even easy to figure whether the police are inherently biased against black populations - even looking at the number of arrests of blacks and whites compared to the proportion of races within the population doesn't give enough useful information because if one race commits more crime overall it's hardly surprising that the police take more of an interest in that group. If the police get a report of a crime where the suspect is a six-foot black man the chances are they aren't going to go round bothering 5'4 white women trying to find their perp. I regard the term "racism" as treating people differently purely on account of their race. So the white cop arresting the black man for a crime isn't racist but the white dog walker who calls in a black person acting suspiciously when all they are doing is walking their dog almost certainly is. The white student who failed the test isn't a victim of racism even if all the Asian students passed it, if that white student didn't get a passing grade. If jobs are offered to the most qualified candidates and the workforce turns out to be made up entirely of one race, that isn't racist. Case in point - how many white NBA players are there, and how loud is the howling about racism within the NBA?
You must be anti- anti-racism.. Don't you know that it is no longer acceptable to simply not be a racist? You must be an anti-racist, and if I have to explain that to you, then that is in itself self-proving evidence of your anti-anti-racism. Did I do that right?
Racism doesn't exist any more. The nice people at Bethel declared and decreed it to be so. They even laid on a show not entirely unlike Gandalf vs the Balrog to show how serious they are. (not a great rendering of the video, if you search Youtube for Bethel Lord of the Rings you can find more longer versions) My question for the day - why does anyone take these kooks and nutjobs seriously?
Whewwww. And here I've been worried about that damned Balrog sneaking up behind me. See, I knew there was a reason for my racism other than the color of my skin. Ahhh... listen carefully. Racism has apparently only ended in the ekklesia, and I guess ThoseThatBeApostles(TM) get to decide if you are in the ekklesia or not, nu?
I had to ponder the comments that "we are all kings and priests" and that "Bill Johnson is an apostle". So we can declare and decree things but some things need a Very Special Decree. Perhaps Mr Johnson is a super-priest, or some kind of king that's better than other kings. Maybe he's a king AND a priest and we're stuck being either one or the other. I'm not sure which one I am, sadly the video didn't say. Perhaps if I ask nicely Mr Johnson will decree that I, too, can be both a king and a priest, or a super-king, or whatever it is he claims to be today. It's just what I need to pad out my resume a bit.
All kings and priests are equal. Some are more equal than others. (With apologies to Mr. Orwell.) I looked for The Rookie, but didn't see him. He must be one of the LesserKingsAndPriests (TM).
Clearly he hasn't been promoted to full apostle status. Or he's one of the equal-but-lesser apostles. Perhaps he just isn't ready to face the mighty Balrog.
