I am appalled at a stand that my state nearly took! I'm a Virginia girl and recently a bill what would have allowed for abortions up to the birth and even infanticide after birth was considered. What is truly ironic about this is that our governor, a Pediatrician of all career choices, was very in favor of this bill and spoke openly in its favor. It just made me sick! Thank God the bill failed, but it has created quite of tornado of criticism and rightfully so! It is also sickeningly ironic that one of the bill's cosponsors has apologized for promoting the bill, saying that she had not even fully read the bill. Yet, she signed it! Now, I don't know if you would sign something that you had not read. Believe me when I say that I would not! I'm picky about every document I sign, and I definitely would refuse to sign any bill with such life and death consequences! But that has to do with my view that human life is a sacred gift from a holy Creator God. And that's what I want to address now.

In Southern Baptist circles, we have marked the signing of Roe vs. Wade by celebrating Sanctity of Human Life Sunday on the third Sunday each January with a Sunday School lesson on how sacred all of human life is. This is based on the belief that life begins at conception. But we spoke of how all of human life is sacred from conception to the grave and eternally. What makes human life sacred? Think back to the creation of Adam and Eve. To make the rest of creation, God SPOKE and it happened., every creature after his own kind. When he created Adam and Eve it was different. He formed Adam from the dust of the ground and "breathed into his nostrils the breath of life." Let that sink in! The Creator breathed His own breath into man. He then did major surgery on Adam, took out one of his ribs and made Eve. That God breathed life is what makes human life sacred. No other of God's creation bears that distinction!

Then as I thought about the increase in abortion, abuse, euthanasia, murders, suicide, terrorism, and war, it seems that the devil is trying to snuff out all of human life! Why? Because humans are made in the image of his archenemy, God! But I love the ending of the Bible, the ending of the Book of Revelation, you know the rest of the story: God wins, and so do all of us who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Life eternal with Him or Death eternal in hell with satan. Note: both are eternal!

Gracey, it may seem like I'm making this responce just a sign of the times, it is but no less horrible that such a law was even considered. Especially here in the US. But it does mean that men's hearts are hardening even more. And I look for my Lord any day because of it. Well said dear lady. I don't believe this belongs in Contro however. I'm moving it to the main discussion area.

Thanks, Buddy! Maybe now we'll get a few folks to speak out on this critical issue! And you're right. We see, as I said, that satan is trying every trick he can pull out of his hat 'er horns, to snuff out all human life, simply because we are created in the image of his archenemy God Almighty! Yes, God ALMIGHTY! His is the victory! Even so, come, Lord Jesus, and until then, give us grace to trust Thee more!
