So, I came across a bunch of videos on YouTube last night that discussed a topic that I didn’t even know was a thing. Some people believe that our Savior should be called Yeshua, which is a Hebrew name, rather than Jesus, which is a Greek name. The logic being that the Messiah was, while on earth, a Jew. A Hebrew. So, His name should be the Hebrew name. Anybody have an opinion on this?

    "Jesus" isn't Greek either.

    It's English.

I seldom, if ever, listen to "some people", especially on YouTube in regards to Christianity.

    Dani You're probably fine.

There are some people who think it's more authentically Christian to almost be Jewish ... or something. I don't understand it. I'm completely fine with being a Gentile. To each their own, I guess.

Also, maybe watch less Youtube ... which, granted, is pretty great for DYI and gaming videos ... not so great for anything beyond that I think.

Some call him Yahushua. I remember a Japanese guy I knew many years ago who introduced himself as "Kev". His real name was Nirohito but the people he hung out with called him Kev because they couldn't remember his real name. He thought it was great so adopted the name. If you called "Kev" or "Nirohito" he'd answer to either. Somehow I suspect Jesus will answer whichever variation of the name we use.

After some digging, here's what I found..."The proper name Jesus /ˈdʒiːzəs/ used in the English language originates from the Latin form of the Greek name Ἰησοῦς (Iēsous), a rendition of the Hebrew Yeshua (ישוע), also having the variants Joshua or Jeshua."
