Well you know, the media has predetermined that (a) Israel is an apartheid evil regime, (b) that so called "Palestinians" are simply poor victimized goat herders trying to eke out a meager subsistence living in a poor and arid desert, and (c) did I mention that Israel is an evil apartheid regime? So what can we poor moderators do about the drama in Gaza? Oy! Vey! What an insane world we live in. I remember Isaiah saying something about calling good evil and evil good. I have numerous cousins there but most worrying is that my son is studying there this year. Because of the way things are, he is in an area that hasn't been targeted at all so far. He's in the holy land studying the bible so I suppose God is watching out for him.
Wow! He will be in my prayers, indeed. My baby brother (45 year old) is stationed at the US embassy in Jordan. His area is military intelligence, so I'm sure he hasn't gotten much sleep in the last 2 weeks. And, he and his family are supposed to end their tour in less than 30 days and trying to get packed and out.

Nothing more persistent than the ill-conceived, insidious notion of 2 states. The repeated madness of lobbing missiles into populated Israel, leading time and time again to the desolation and death of Palestinians would seem like sheer folly of the highest magnitude, except for the delusion it helps to perpetuate. This goes back through history and cannot be accurately defined as anything other than age-old antisemitism - the hatred of Jacob.
Two states would work if it was the midwest and not the mideast. Those who advocate should be aware. The Midrash (Jewish commentary) actually says exactly this: It is a law, Esau hates Jacob.
I'm not so sure that a two state solution would work in the Midwest.... We're rapidly moving toward the same insanity in terms of "urban" vs. "rural" in the Midwest, except, you know, we haven't gotten to the "RED voters must be exterminated from the earth" bit. Yet. No wait. No moral equivalency, yet, but the mindset is so frightening. The Jews have just suffered it for millenia.
It is. We're still a ways away from people acting out on it, the way they do to Jews. The way they're doing to Jews today. Not just in Israel but in NY, Miami, LA, London, Paris, Berlin...
