Working on Asper's Thief's World. Which is a fantasy anthology. Lots of top authors. The rule is you can use another authors characters as long as you don't do serious damage to them.
Currently I'm reading Ephesians. Also, reading Water Dog. My Labrador is getting older and won't be able to hunt anymore since she's developed arthritis. We're getting a Springer Spaniel puppy in 6 weeks so I'm refreshing myself on training another. This will be the 3rd retriever for me to train. My kids are teenagers now so I'm looking forward to them being involved in the fun and good times of seeing a puppy go from learning to sit and stay for 30 seconds to a valued hunting companion to share the blind with.
Still reading Mercedes Lacky and in the same world but now in a set of prequels. In the Arrows Of The Queen series (what I was reading before) the Harold Trainees are largely taught in a Collegium setting. In the books I am in now it is when those are just starting. It follows the main character becoming a Harold and Spy. The book I sm in now follows his kids.
Just finished: Authoritarian Nightmare: Trump and his followers. John W, Dean. September 10, 2020 Based on statistical studies, an eye-opener. A great read. To a large degree, my sentiments confirmed. Biblical comments are a bit off. Kindle. Out.
"Jesus and John Wayne" Have not started it yet as my wife bought it and gets first dibs, but it looks interesting from the dust jacket.
Now reading Katherine Kurtz's King Kelsons Bride. Which is the 4th in her 2nd set of books on King Kelson. This is actually a reread.
My wife has found the author to be speaking from a very feminist pov but it may be leading somewhere further in. She is particularly interested as the author is a prof at Calvin College where she studied and learned under many of the cited profs.
There is a strong focus on patriarchal issues, an over-emphasis on gender influence. I 've always heard this type of reasoning from strong feminists. She knows historical roots and trends however and nails modern church movements acutely.
