For sometime now, the admins, moderators, and myself, have been trying to figure out a way to upgrade the software for the forum so that the search engines will give us more credence in their search results. We're wanting our community to grow in numbers, giving us a more of a chance to fulfill the great commission. Most Christian forums that I know of have turned into either a one sided dictatorship or simply a social club. Wouldn't you like even more an opportunity to witness for Christ online? Not to mention the chance for even greater fellowship. After quite a bit of research, we've decided to upgrade PCIM to VBulletin software because software like the one we're using, SMF, just doesn't seen to be to Google's, Bing's, & the others liking. What we're needing are contributions to take care of the expense of the VBulletin software, any add ons that may be needed, plus any SEO that may be required to gain the popularity we need. The Parsons Corner itself, has a limited amount of funds, but not the extra monies needed to pay this plus continue to take care of the local ministry expenses. If you would like to help us out, it would be appreciated. Donation totals will be posted in this thread, and later on a separate page on the "Ask The Preacher" site so there's full disclosure. Please feel free to ask any questions or suggestions here in this thread. PayPal donations of any amount can be made through the donate@parsonscorner.org email address. Your servant in Christ Jesus folks, The Parson
So questions that people will probably have (myself included)..... Is the need a one time thing or something that will be on going? If it's one time, what is the number we are trying to reach? If it's on going, any idea what kind of number. X/month or X/year?
This initial will probably be a one time thing. Software, around $250.00 Add Ons, ??? - Can't get access to those prices Internet space for a year, $100.00 SEO and Advertising, 300.00 + or - yearly. Thinking of using Google Adwords mainly. Afterwards, I'll set up a donate button for continual support. I have hopes though that the drafting courses I sell for supporting the ministry will pick up some steam so that the entire site is self sufficient. That's the way I'd rather have it.
Sure, that would be wonderful. The main sites would be House Plan Drafting, Mechanical Drafting, Site Plan Drafting, and Blueprint Reading
We're looking for a total of about $4-500, to give a bit of slack for any add-ons we find we need? I'll also need to have a talk at this end (with Mrs Tango).
Vbulletin is offering a $50 dollar discount at the moment. The offer is only good for a week: $50 vBulletin discount:
