I guess now Amber Heard can truthfully say that Johnny Depp beat her...

Lazy day today. Our church does a monthly pancake breakfast that's open to anyone who cares to show up. It's a thing that's only recently restarted after the covid silliness, so we've been going to that. Then we went for coffee with one of the ladies at church. She and my wife are very close, and I'm quite close with both her and her husband. He's out of town so she had us round for coffee after the pancakes.

Small progress on the house. The next piece of ceiling I need to pull down has a nasty strip light on it, so I took the chance to disconnect it from the mains. Its still physically present but now I can remove it whenever I'm ready. It was a remarkably painless process, albeit a little tricky because there was less light where I needed to work than I expected and I needed to roll out one of my battery powered work lights.

I recently noticed the rise of the genre of Dinosaur Rock, and was thinking maybe Beck & Depp could get together and, and...

    Okay, I'm gone.

So I went to a talk presented by Creation Ministries International last night. Apparently I am a bad Christian.

    Sure.

It's pretty frustrating to watch someone barf out so many half-truths and outright propoganda and see most people eat it up.

Yes but you see, when you MySQL the carbon dating and use that synchronise the tree rings with adjustments made for obvious carbon dating faults (after all, those medieval homes were far too old!)...

You should be writing for Nu-Trek!

Oh, I'd be an excellent pseudo-tech writer.

I still haven't seen SNW, or Disco season 4. Picard season 2 is it for me, I think. Oh I guess there's also Lower Decks but if I wanted to watch Rick and Morty and I'd just watch that instead.

I managed to get access to the ceiling cavity that I need to run a cable to rewire the ceiling fan. It was tricky, perched on a ladder reaching through a narrow gap to pull down lath and plaster inside a small space, and then shuffling around with lights and the camera on my phone trying to figure if I had the right space.

Once I can run a cable from the fan to the switch and a cable from the switch to the basement I can connect the fan to the new circuit I've been building, which means I can finally disconnect the last of the knob and tube wiring in my house. That will be a good feeling.

I got my wiring work done yesterday. It was tricky running the fish tape and I had to drill an unexpected hole in a wall stud, which meant making a hole in the wall inside a closet, but got there in the end. So now all the knob and tube in my house is disconnected. As I gain access to it I can see to physically removing it.

Some family drama for us. My dad is really wanting to regain his Dutch citizenship - this would involve an initial 3 month visit, but would also require some longer term stay. My mom is is OK with a visit like that, but she is worried that he won't want to come back. He would require her help though as his vision is failing and could not adequately take care of himself anymore. This has left everything in a bit of an impasse. They recently moved from a home to retirement community and my dad is pretty miserable (this is not unexpected with a move). Pretty stressful time for both of them. He's sought out me and my sisters' opinion on the matter, which we have done collectively, but it's still up to the two of them to figure this out. Will need some prayer over this matter.

Indeed. Will be lifting this situation up in prayer. Asking for wisdom and strong direction for your folks.

    Understood and praying.

My 89 year old mother in law is contemplating very serious selling her home of 48 years and moving in with us. We would love it, but we are not naive to believe that it will be cmpletely satisfying for her.

    Thanks.
Also found out yesterday that my friend who was part of my wedding party is in hospital in palliative care. He has dealt with melanoma over the last 10 years but there apparently was a rapid spread through his body.
