Mill just drug a pile of large fir logs to the pulp yard. I'll likely cut & split a load. Just in case. Nice wood.

EDIT: Still aiming for that quieter, contemplative life. Several things to accomplish in the interim.

I got a bit more work done on the house. A nice new hole drilled through the outside wall, a cable run through the hole, and the hole then resealed with cement. The cable isn't connected to anything just yet, it's stapled in the woodwork of my porch and stapled to the exposed doorframe just in case someone decides to try pulling the cable to see how much cable they can steal (the remaining cable on the roll is worth about $120). I also spent some time removing nails from wood I pulled down when I took down the trim. Maybe tomorrow I can get the wood screwed back into place and put the trim back on. I've got a wood shim ready to mount a heavy duty back box to, which is suitable for lights and fans.

For now I just plan to put a light there, but in the future I may look to replace the light with a fan. My plan is that the cable I've run and the back box I'm going to use are such that the light can be replaced with a fan at any time and without having to take down the trim again. For now it's total overkill but if I do decide I want a fan there everything is in place.

It's also about time I ran some more temporary lighting on the other side, so I'm not restricting to working during daylight hours. Now I've got my mojo back to work on the house it will be good to get on with some stuff.

People tell me I need to get in shape. I tell them I am in shape. Round is a shape.

Not a hugely productive day today. I got a little bit of preparatory work done on the side porch but mostly it was just pulling the last few nails out, clearing away some surplus foam spray to make room for the ceiling, and screwing a baton into place ready to mount the back box so it will clear the piece of wood screwed into the bottom of the beam. Then I noticed a mortar seam that needs attention before I put the ceiling up but it was too windy to be dealing with mixing cement, so I decided to call it a day and went for a walk instead.

My scheduled workout today was a "long easy run". The weather isn't really conducive to that so I rescheduled it for tomorrow. I'm not sure when I'll actually get to do it, because tomorrow is supposed to be windy again, Sunday is supposed to see rain and/or snow and then on Monday next week's workouts start. I'm wondering how much longer I'll be able to keep going with these workouts, as they get progressively longer while the weather gets progressively colder. I'm pleased I've been able to keep going as long as I have.

The forecast assured me it would be warm(ish), dry and calm. Two out of three ain't bad I guess. I did my long run but didn't care much for the 20+mph headwinds that plagued me across the more exposed sections. I got the workout done, even if the last couple of miles were a battle.

Now I'm sitting in front of the TV with the remains of a cold beer. A black raspberry gose that is particularly delicious.

Preparing to submit and follow-up threads over yonder. Little rusty. Several running topics currently are a bit difficult to navigate because of tendencies toward rambling, despite excellent guidance from ADMIN contributor (ahem).

Nah, Tim owns that too, so it's definitely not in the hands of some insane cult.

What happened to the original owners? It seems odd that a forum that had been running for so long should just fall into deregistration like that. I tried to visit the site just to see what was going on there but the address doesn't go anywhere any more.

Ah, I knew he had been unwell for some considerable time (talk that he was dying was commonplace nearly 10 years ago) but never knew if it was accurate or not. I guess nobody else was able or willing to take on ownership of it?

Doesn't seem that way. The domain expires in January, so who knows.

At any rate, it seems the thrill that empowered the earlier generation of faith forums has left the house.
What will remain, it appears, is lone-wolf, theological/philosophical/political delving or an abundance of outright false doctrine, cults and trolls.
