I had a doctor's appointment today. Mostly just reporting on blood tests. Everything was within normal range. Which is very good considering the health considerations I have. Diabetes, cholesterol, etc. The only thing out of the ordinary was the thyroid numbers were a bit high. We'll test again next appointment before we do anything. May have more information about other things soon. I had some tests done through LifeLine Screening and haven't received the results yet.

Running errands this morning and then decided to finally get on with clearing out a closet that had become a dumping ground for things that haven't moved in literally years. Some of it went in the trash, some of it got put into boxes and moved up to the attic and some of it remains to entertain us another day.

The closet looks a lot better now. There is actually a floor holding everything up and now we can almost get to the back of the closet without the liberal application of expletives.

Got veterans (complex issues) restricted to bike transport only, for various reasons. Making use of my double bike rack - start transporting these boys into town. 20+ miles.

Offered a place/position in the San Francisco Bay Area, Cal, which I plan to accept. Flying down soon.
    Relocating = huge undertaking.

Hey, if you tell them you are homeless, they'll put you up in a $106,000 pup tent in the park in the Mission District in San Fran...

Sounds like a big challenge... will be praying.

While you are at it, please pray for me. Our pastor (at the SBC church we've been attending for about 10 months) is going to Indonesia for a month to visit his daughter who is a teacher at a missionary school for Wycliffe and MAF, and he'll be preaching a good bit while he's there.

Which means out pulpit will be without him for 4 Sundays.
God help them all, he asked me to preach on June 6. The anniversary of the bloodiest amphibious landing in history. I see a parallel...

That reminds me as well. Our church, in the last few months, has decided upon a formal separation of our pastor. Not the easiest decision for council and, knowing the people there, not done without any legitimate concern ror cause. There are some definite mental health issues at play and family problems as well. Very tough situation all around. The pastor has been a huge encouragement to my wife especially during her ordeal last year (he phoned daily while she was in hospital) and he's blessed so many other people this way as well. Anyway, because it's a process through the church order, it involves the classis and means we can't call another pastor immediately either. Not an issue right now as we are still not meeting physically, and we have had a retired pastor recording sermons for us for the last several months.

Veterans foundation. Everybody is vulnerable. Nobody wears a mask or social distances. Nobody gets covld.
    Nobody cares.
(But everybody sees Charley behind bushes).

I find it curious to see the difference in attitude between older and more vulnerable people I know.

I have one friend in her 70s who is immune compromised and has a pacemaker. She has basically hunkered down at home since COVID started. Another friend, of a similar age, is a cancer survivor and had surgery within the last several months. She clearly doesn't care about COVID - she still has people around to visit and only self-isolates for the several days leading up to a hospital appointment so that the appointment isn't cancelled. She's hugs people freely. Earlier in the year some former neighbors, well into their 80s if not into their 90s now, invited us around for a meal. We wondered what their thoughts on COVID were and they said they didn't care - no need for masks, distancing or anything. They freely hugged us as we arrived and as we left.

Sort of like the T-shirt I saw the other day.

"Be careful of old people. At our age, the threat of a life sentence in prison isn't much of a deterrent."

Another shirt I remember said something along the lines of "don't upset a geocacher - we know the best places to hide a body"

:D They announced in church this morning that starting next week those who have been vaccinated no longer have to wear masks.

We had that announcement recently too although in practise most people dispensed with the masks weeks back.

    I identify as "vaccinated."
Take that for what you will.
