Yes, I intend to stay with it, for glucose levels in particular, which dangerously affect circulation at extremities.
I can adjust things once that is stabilized, but feel better already.

    Final fast update.

no, didn’t make the entire 10 days as planned
Nothing physical or psychological... purely social. My wife (a retired nurse) and her best friend (also a retired nurse) are still operating under the “medical knowledge” they have from their nursing school education that is at least 35 years old. So, both were extremely concerned and upset about the idea of a fast longer than 24 hours. There are some battles that are not worthy of a fight! It is also difficult for a spouse to eat when the other is not, as there is an assumed guilt that is neither required nor necessary albeit felt nonetheless

so, I broke the fast on Saturday, which insured a great deal of domestic tranquillity.
My final weight after 6 days was 187.8, a much needed loss of 12 pounds. There was never any discomfort or pain and I have not doubt that the other 4 days would have been just as smooth. After eating 2 days (purely keto, very low carbs, probably less than 5 grams either day (mostly from pistachios!), weight this morning was 189.8 lbs, music to my ears. Look better, feel better. Lost an inch in my waist. Obliques and "love handles" shrank as well. Stomach much better proportioned than previously. I’ll continue to eat both carefully and well, primarily lots of leafy greens, healthy fats (lots of olive oil) and moderate organic proteins proteins, and I would anticipate losing another 10 pounds by end of first quarter

Also, shall we say, also systems go without any discomfort or side effect

noticed something interesting during the last week. Two particular triggers for “hunger” or “desire to eat”

    1. Stress.... during particularly stressful times last week (work related) I found the desire to eat multiplied immensely. (Physiologically I think and my reading seems to confirm this is a learned endorphin dopamine craving )
    2. Boredom. When bored, same same

so many good results and good lessons if I can just remember and apply them

Actually installing compact Nordic-style elliptical walking thing at work. Thankfully, job allows it. Essential for now.
Keto adaptation has been slow but is beginning in earnest. Starting to reasonably sleep at night.

I think propaganda reigns over truth from both sides of the aisle

    Yep

without objective truth, it is “every man did that which was right in his own eyes.”

QAnon is reminiscent of the old John Birch society and the commie scare. Same simmering tension, with the addition of a populist figurehead.

I think both sides are going all-out in an attempt to prove that if you repeat something often enough people believe it. More and more these days the media seems to be more about endlessly pushing something until it's accepted, than presenting anything useful. The Ministry of Truth is obviously working overtime.

Yep, and when two sides present totally different versions of reality things are more about which version of reality you believe rather than your opinion on a specific issue.

I was just reading a news article about the NRA filing for bankruptcy and planning to reincorporate in Texas and, depending on which version of events you believe, it's either an evil entity that's out of touch with the American people and with immeasurable amounts of blood on its corporate hands, or the last line of defense of basic human rights against governments seeking to leave us all vulnerable. Of course if you can present an organisation as having the blood of innocent children on its hands it's easy to demonise the organisation as well as its supporters (let's face it, what kind of monster joins an organisation that doesn't care about the killing of children but, you know, *cough*plannedparenthood*cough*), and if you can present it as the last line of defense between the law-abiding and a tidal wave of human scum it's easy to demonise those who want to leave the law-abiding at the mercy of the tidal wave of human scum.

History invariably repeats itself. It begins with lies and those who willingly believe them.
I think we're in for the long haul this time.

Where I live, it's passive aggression, a slow burn.

True here as well, with open pockets of non-passive aggression.

I had someone, shall we say, of a different ethnicity and (from their clothing) different political affiliation cut in front of me at the grocery store last Thursday night. As in, physically move my cart out of the way and push in front of me to the checkout while I was standing in line. The look on this person's face and body language was obvious that the intent (from my interpretation, racist as I am) was for the "old crazy white guy" to start a confrontation that would end with a beat down on video to be uploaded to the interwebz (with the aggressor obviously not knowing that the first physical assault would have resulted in the need for a call to a coroner for the meat wagon due to rapid onset lead poisoning.)

Recognizing the effort at creating a confrontation, I opted for a different approach. I said nothing, and did nothing (outwardly). What I did do was ask God to immediately send an angel to screw up the check out register beyond all functionality. The guy had maybe 10 items in his cart.

he spent the next three minutes looking over his shoulder at me more than he did looking at his self-checkout register.

I checked out and went to the car. Remembered something else I needed (coffee!,) and went back in, got the coffee and checked out again.

As I left the checkout area, the idiot was still trying to check out, two managers were standing next to him trying to get their over-ride cards to work on the machine, and I just gave God a high-five and said, "Thanks. Nice one."

I don't know if that machine will ever work again, but I do know that we need to be "as wise as serpents, as innocent as doves" in these days.

I had a theft of a package from the post office last Friday, and had to file a police report. My wife and I spent an hour talking generally with a very nice sergeant, a real professional with the local PD, which made me very happy. He said they (in our small town of 3000, which swells to 10,000 most weekends) are having an increased number of assaults, threatening behavior, etc. since the election.

Keep your trays in an upright and stored position, and keep all hands, feet, and heads inside the car with the safety bar securely fastened while the ride is in motion. Scan your sectors. Head on a swivel. Stay frosty. And in the immortal words of Sgt. Maj. Plumley, "Gentlemen, prepare to defend yourselves."

Be wise as serpents, as innocent as doves, brothers and sisters.

Does your PD man see the increased trouble as being caused by Democrats who are recently emboldened, or Republicans who are still unhappy at the result?

We are in a heavily republican county and small town.

they are seeing some aggressive minorities from Atlanta coming to cause trouble, a bunch of rednecks mouthing off, and a general spirit on both sides of lawlessness and lack of respect for anything.

I hear there are new short-term tenants in the government housing projects at both 1600 Pennsylvania and at the Old Naval Observatory.

And the world hasn't stopped spinning.

    Who'd a thunk it?
