Do you mean "talk politics" in the sense that I speak and expect you to listen and then expect to listen while you speak, or "talk politics" in the sense that I shout with my fingers in my ears because I assume that either you agree with me or figure that by virtue of you not agreeing with me it must follow that you have nothing useful to say?

Cutting the grass was an interesting experience. Because of the rain we hadn't cut it for two weeks so it was like a jungle out there.

Thw mower I have, that I bought before I really knew what I needed in a mower, has a collection bag and a mulching plug but no side ejetion. Needless to say filling the collection bag takes no time at all with such long grass so that wasn't an option. What I normally do is take the bag off and just leave the rear flap down, letting the grass blow out to the side of the flap. With the long grass it was jamming up every few steps, which made for a desperately slow process.

So in the end I figured I had to do something drastic. With a piece of dowel rod I managed to prop the rear flap open. Far from ideal because it meant things could be thrown out of the back at speed, and in practise it meant I got covered in grass. On the positive side it did mean I could just go ahead and cut the grass without having to stop and clear a blockage every few steps. So the lawn was cut in about 40 minutes, whereas without doing something arguably a bit silly it would have taken many hours.

Now I think I'm going to cobble together a deflector so i can leave the rear flap open permanently, and all the way open rather than kinda-sorta-open, but put something in place to deflect the output down and to one side. That should make cutting a much easier process overall.

Was just told in a thread to go back to my "Island of lost toys" forum.
Got a chuckle out of that. Just passing through - 12hr shift approaches.

That's it! No more forum politics.
    Now a radical centrist anyhow.

Forum politics seems to be the kind of thing best enjoyed with a bag of gold coins and a big spiky club. If you live under a bridge that can only help.

On that topic, I'm largely informed by pessimism so I guess that makes me conservative.

Listening to Ryuichi Sakamoto, and unlike F1 crashes, I'd recommend. 'Blu' is a good starting point:

So I was doing my field work yesterday and today during a heat wave that broke the records out here. Digging soil samples somewhere between 37 and 40C.

Recovery day. Last night the summer classical choir had its concert. I had a hard time finding the venue for the dress rehersal. Ended up getting there an hour late. (They were just starting the pictures when I got there as the director had rearanged the choir to fit the space).

Concert last night went great. Had a good crowd. And they gave us a standing ovation and we ended up doing 2 bows. A lot of hard work but worth it. We sang 6 songs, and all but Hayden's Te Deum from memory. And all with only 11 rehearsals.
