Just a place for us to remind ourselves and to encourage others by recognizing the daily, delightful times in which we recognize the daily application of God's love and grace in our lives... For example, just today. 1. I had a phone call with an attorney that could have been very difficult and adversarial. Instead, it was professional, courteous, and much more productive than anticipated. The problem? I've been worrying about it for four days, which means that I didn't trust God the the grace to deal with the situation, regardless of how it turned out. I created angst for myself because (a) I didn't trust God for a good outcome and (b) I didn't trust God for the grace to handle it even if it had been a bad outcome. I'll never get those moments of peace back, because I decided to not trust God and to suffer the anxiety instead. Note to self... stop doing that. 2. We've had the best 6 months of our firm's history, despite being one lawyer short for most of the time period. Note to self... my dollars don't come from my efforts, but from being a good steward of the opportunities God in his graciousness places before me. 3. I just got an excellent report from my annual physical, other than LDL and triglycerides being a little high. I already know the solution for that, just need to get back to a healthier lifestyle. I'll be 54 in 4 months, and my blood pressure, in spite of my job, was 118/78. Remarkable given the family history of hypertension.
Yeah, I don’t lean on God to help me with things nearly as much as I should. I tend to be a pessimist. I figure the worst case scenario is likely what will happen. Pretty glad when it doesn’t. Even if it is what happens, I suppose the best thing to do would be for me to ask God help me endure it the best way possible. Congrats on keeping your blood pressure at a decent level. With you being an attorney I’m sure you deal with all kinds of stressful and annoying people and situations.
Through God's Grace, I've learned that there is productive suffering. When he takes away your purpose to live, He CAN AND WILL, through faith and prayer, give you more. A more profound understanding of Paul's sufferings.
Heard an interesting comment at my men's bible study this morning.... In our society, with all of its technological and information overload, we must intentionally create space between our actions and the world. When we intentionally create space, we give room for God to fill that space with grace and peace, which acts as an oil, a lubricating barrier, between our spirits and the assaults of Satan and this world. Jesus did the same thing. Takeaway? I need to intentionally create space to be filled with grace.
