The main, and largest crater in the Kilauea caldera. Jagger Museum overlooks this crater.

To what temperature does lava have to cool before it can be considered a rolling stone?

To a point at which it can be Shattered.

From a visual perspective, is that when the Blue Turns to Grey?
From a physical perspective, will it be friable enough to be Shattered with the Back of My Hand?

The rocks, when cooled, certainly look like they have been painted black.

Interesting in that while the Pu'u O'o eruption phase of Kilauea has lasted ~35 years (there's a possibility that the Pu'u O'o phase may have ended), back in 1445 Kilauea produced a phase called the AiLa'au eruption which lasted approximately 50 years. If I heard correctly, Kilauea has (pre)historically produced even longer eruptive phases in the distant past. Kinda blows my mind.

If you consider the size of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa, there must have been some serious activity over a very long to drive those two volcanoes.

I believe today makes day 72 or 73 of this eruption. The video here is from the 10th. The flow went through certain changes in it's path to the ocean and is moving in a southerly direction. At this point, 700+ houses have been taken.

Halema'uma'u crater in the Kilauea caldera continues to have explosive/collapse events every 25-35 hours (up from approx. 20-24 hours). Each event registers a magnitude of 5.2 to 5.4 that is regulated to the immediate area. Faulting and ground cracking has extended pretty wide from the crater area.

That little twister that appeared was pretty neat.
