Kilauea Volcano may be getting ready for another event

Lava has entered the Puna Geothermal Venture (PGV) property. Earlier in the month, 60,000 gallons of pentane was removed from the plant with the wells being "quenched" and/or "plugged". No one knows what to expect as more lava overruns the property and more wells. Looks like a wait and see.

IIRC, Mauna Loa has been at "Advisory" status for about 3(?) years now as there has been a bit of inflation on the slope. But scientists don't seem too worried about it. Just keeping an eye on it.

This current eruption is 5+ weeks strong. However, this eruption has put out waaaaaaay more lava in those 5+ weeks than the Pu'u O'o eruptions has put out in it's 35 year eruption phase. I'm still trying to wrap my mind around that.

I'll get a number later as to how more output this eruption has released.

Yeah, this is interesting to watch unfold. However, it’s NOTHING compared to what will happen if the Yellowstone super volcano ever erupts. Say bye-bye to most of the United States. And the negative atmospheric and environmental effects would be GLOBAL...
