Kilauea Volcano may be getting ready for another event

Just heard it on the radio

 

We're pretty far from the action, so we're good.

 

Surprisingly he wasn't seriously hurt. Quite likely to be released from the hospital today.

 

Overnight, another fissure opened up in Leilani Estates, spewing lava about 100 ft in the air.

Just woke up, so just saw the news feed.

 

Just saw that a third eruption area has opened up in Leilani Estates. Mandatory evacs are in progress from the area.

 

All along, I thought it was extinct until your post. Pulled up an article and BAM!

 

A little while ago, a confirmed forth fissure has opened up and begun to erupt.

 

Ok, literally when I hit Post Reply, we were hit with what was originally listed as a 5.6 tremor. Hospital building was moving quite a bit. It was downgraded to a 5.3, but it felt a lot bigger than that. U think it gets upgraded in the same fashion yesterday's one was. The eruptions are already a big event, but with the bigger quakes popping up........damn. Hoping nothing bigger happens.

 

Just got rocked by on that felt even bigger than the last one. Even the small quakes are getting bigger. For the last couple weeks, most were in the 2.4-2.8 range. Today, the small ones are now coming in at 3's.

 

And sitting in the car now, just felt another one. Not as big, but......

 

Yeah, that last one was 6.9.

 

Most, if not all, is magma related. The 6.9 was 5.0 km deep while the 5.6 earlier was 6.9 km deep.
