At this point I'd probably be doing more nodding that reading.

Insomnia. Reading up on election re: the salvation of infants, and popular forum views are coming up rather short, or disgusting -- probably more the latter.

Watching a talk between Dave Rubin and Jordan Peterson on, at least in part, the evolutionary psychology view of religion, religious belief, and its origin:

Also reflecting on the culture I've experienced here over the last few weeks. Almost everyone I've met is well acquainted with the Bible; they know all the music; they can hold an informed discussion, but only 3 out of ~40 openly profess belief in Christ. As a consequence, when I'm asked what I believe and talk about my faith, it's assumed that my reasons for believing are similar to their reasons for believing, particularly the ~37 who 'believed' at one point, and then didn't anymore. I'm beginning to 'get' American-Christianity-as-popular-culture/political-position, and why there can be such outrage over the culture changing, even though the former thing is, evidently, destructive in the lives of those who ultimately reject it and barely look back. I find it similar to those who were 'raised Catholic' but didn't go any further, except this is Evangelical, and on a much larger scale -- and just as broken.

I feel your pain. I had to get my license plate tags this month. At least I didn't have to go through emission testing, though. That will be next year. Yay. I know it will pass, though.

You have emissions tests in WA? Didn't know that. We used to in the Vancouver area, but they shut that down a couple years ago.

I haven't had an emissions test in 20 years because of where I live.

    Scary, eh?

And if you read that paragraph aloud in your average Sunday morning service, 90%+ would not understand your point.
