Been trying to help an 84 yr old gentleman get around and get settled in an apartment, among other essential things. He's involved in legal procedures to try and get his Alzheimer's stricken wife back from his daughter's jurisdiction - long, complicated story. I sense a certain resistence to the faith, so will take it slow, while it seems amazing each day he even continues. A very tired, vulnerable old-timer.
I'll bear that burden with you. I'll be praying. Galatians 6:2 Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
Thanks much for your prayers. Now playing the role of private investigator, locating the whereabouts of Paul's wife, who has been stashed in a assist/residential by a step-daughter who is antagonistic and looking to capitalize. Pretty sure I found her and all is under lawyer's care - court date gets filed tomorrow. This daughter had previously been awarded conservatorship, and now blocks Paul's access to his wife, since he refuses to allow the daughter to take her retirement... etc. A tangled web in the background.
Saw no choice but to take him home to Arkansas. Bad heart, wanky pace-maker on top of diabetes and onset dementia. He had about 15 plastic bags of posessions - getting him on a plane would've been major. Some incontenance and I had my doubts he would have survived the trip. Has friends in Ark, and getting an apt within the next few. I am now home and relieved.
What happened with his wife? The thought of a loving couple being separated in their last years turns my stomach. He is very blessed to have you to help him and I will be praying for both of you.
A court date is set for mid-August. He will fly out for that, tentatively. The best plan involved an assist place for both of them, which he balked at. Might still happen. Thanks for the prayers.
