Battled insomnia last night, and ended up writing lyrics to a song. This is the closing chorus to it. Hope of the Heart Hope of the heart is the most powerful thing It’s the patience to wait for a special love It can sustain you through a love that’s lost It’s looking in the eyes of your own reflection It’s the thread you hold on to It’s the strength to stay when he walks away It’s the strength to cry when she says goodbye It’s the will to stand when you want to fall It’s the key that opens your heart It’s all about love, it’s all for love It’s all about love, it’s all for love Lyrics ~ S. Sayers
Most of the time my writing poems/song lyrics keeps me awake not a product of sleeplessness. Still, however it was done it works good.
There's a whole lot more stuff I've could've written, but usually when I get ideas in my head, I'm at that point where I'm trying/need to get to sleep, so I try to repeat in my mind thinking I'll remember it when I wake up. Very rarely happens that way. It's normally gone by that time. My friend always tells me, no matter when the idea comes, just write it down. I should listen to him more. ;.;.
I keep a notebook and pen by my bed for just such cases. Most time when I get a line/idea I have an idea where in the poem it goes, but not always. When the muse hits I turn my light on, wright it down, then try to go back to sleep. (Often failing because another idea comes as soon as I get relaxed. So it's turn light one, etc.)
Yeah, I should just get up and write down stuff, no matter when it is the muse awakens. Never know what good ideas may come out of it.
Rare muse hit last night Verse 1 Outside of the city There's a party in the street Palm fronds and robes and coats Laid down at his feet Hosanna in the highest The crowd is heard to say They are shouting and singing and dancing... But Jesus weeps. (Instrumental turn around) Verse 2 Murder in the streets Violence in our homes Danger in our neighborhoods Danger in the womb Safe within our churches Comfortable and at ease We are shouting and singing and dancing While Jesus weeps Bridge Let me dance when you dance Let me cry when you cry Let me see this world Through your eyes Let me shout when you shout Let me praise when you praise Let me see this world Through your eyes (Instrumental turnaround) Verse 3 The homeless on the street The helpless in our schools Afraid with a hard brave face Lonely in a crowded place Take us from our comfort zone Help us live through You alone Loving and serving and weeping When Jesus weeps
