Has anyone here ever cast a demon out of possessed person or seen someone else do this?

What are your thoughts on this, or what do you believe scripture teaches about it?

I understand that Jesus and the many disciples did cast demons out of people...I am seeing this, rather in line with miracles...but I could be wrong of course.

I would have made this a poll but not feeling creative enough this morning to think up poll choices.

    Yes.
An exorcism is like surgery. Not pleasant, not common, not to be sought out or desired, nothing like the movies.

No, and no; however, my younger brother was in a talking relationship with a couple, and I've been terrorised by them / others on more than one occasion. Agree with the above: it's not a situation, or a being, to seek out. The reality is not fun.

Also, nothing to fear, unless your "relationship" with Jesus is more talk than walk.

This happened, IMO, too often in our old church. Many times we knew that it was not real. But I don't deny that there could have been some real instances mixed in with all the theater.

It was easy for Paul to cast out the spirit of divination in the slave girl...do you think today praying and fasting is necessary for every demon possession? And was that person unsaved? I am asking because of course the subject was brought up elsewhere...and I am curious if you believe people that have The Holy Spirit can be demon possessed?

That is a big concern of mine. I had a super bad experience in which an individual told me I had a demon, screamed, and ran to the other side of the room. Commanded ME to leave.
It was during a therapy session in which she assured me that I would be safe if I agreed to guided imagery.
I did not want to do it to begin with.
I told her what she was doing was abusive and of course I filed a complaint with her superior who did nothing.
I mean, if she were really spiritual, (and she was a supposed Christian) I would think if I had a demon, she would have extracted it, or maybe even attempted to since I went to her because of spiritual abuse.

    Christians cannot be demon possessed.

Actual exorcism isn't difficult if the person doing it is in right standing with God.

If not in right standing, it is impossible.

    Thanks RabbiKnife--
I would think so...and I know there are Holy men and women who ARE gifted to perform miracles for those so afflicted that God uses them to do so, I just cannot believe it is something that the local TV station is reporting on. It is a gift of God.

BTW- ProDeo posted some awesome GREAT QUOTES today...I almost went back there...to the pain of my past, but God Loves Me. :)

No place for a demon, the Holy Spirit already lives in a Christian.

    Tell her:
19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own,

As in the demon won't leave because the person isn't able to get any backing from God to force the demon out?

If the person doesn't have a relationship with Jesus, and they don't have the Holy Spirit indwelling, then it will be impossible for them to drive out any demon.

    Acts 19:11-18 (NASB)

11 God was performing extraordinary miracles by the hands of Paul, 12 so that handkerchiefs or aprons were even carried from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out. 13 But also some of the Jewish exorcists, who went from place to place, attempted to name over those who had the evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, “I adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preaches.” 14 Seven sons of one Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. 15 And the evil spirit answered and said to them, “I recognize Jesus, and I know about Paul, but who are you?” 16 And the man, in whom was the evil spirit, leaped on them and subdued all of them and overpowered them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. 17 This became known to all, both Jews and Greeks, who lived in Ephesus; and fear fell upon them all and the name of the Lord Jesus was being magnified. 18 Many also of those who had believed kept coming, confessing and disclosing their practices.

Oops. I thought you asked a question. That's why I gave that scripture reference.

Well, it was a question. Actually, it was a question/statement that I was making that I wanted verified as to whether or not I accurately understood what RK was stating.
