Scintillating authors, but the plot is a bit thin...

    Thin but readily apparent:

Learned a lesson about downloading an excess of political best-sellers hoisted on a besieged public by various eye-witnesses to current events, as well as one-time literary giants who feel somehow obliged to offer their sage commentaries.

Think I've read them all and, while good for bed-time diversion, I can't think of one that I would recommend.

Currently reading the 2nd book in Mercedes Lackey's Arrow's of the Queen trilogy. Actually this is a reread.

Complete Short Stories of Earnest Hemingway. Finca Vigia edition.
Almost forgot what a miraculous writer Hemingway was. His text, like his precise observation, flows like a controlled torrent.
    Kindle.

EDIT: unfortunate, bawdy scenes graphically depicted.

The Shining, Stephen King. Not the sort of thing I usually read, but I needed something different.

I have a copy of the Bachman stories on the shelf, the stuff King wrote early on under a pseudonym. If I remember right, Terminator Man is one of the four stories.

    I should probably revisit those.

Started a new set by James Wisher. The book is called The Impossible Wizard. It is a fantasy, instead of being set in a medieval setting it is set in a modern world with cell phones, cars, etc. In this world only women are able to become wizards. Until a boy is tested and found to potentially become an incredibly strong wizard.

    So is it about "trans-wizardism"?

    Ok, that was good.

Abe he just self identifies as a wizard. The personal pronouns I guess would be ‘wiz’

It is a very entertaining book. Nobody, including him, wants him to be a wizard. He keeps getting attacked. But he's so strong a potential wizard he has to be trained. On top of it all he is also a martial arts expert
