    It can be a problem. We have bad air quality through much of winter. Not evil as such.

    I'd hazard a guess that an Amish farmer who burns wood to keep warm and runs everything else on literal horse power is a lot less environmentally damaging than the person with a regular Western lifestyle even if they do use the notionally greenest source of heat. Especially since most of the Amish (round here at least) live far enough apart that the modest plumes of smoke from their chimneys don't have any noticeable effect on air quality. I'd certainly take a few extra Amish families in the area if I could get rid of some of the trucks on the road.

    You could generate some heat by burning those leaves pi-in-face
