Was less than an hour from finishing my shift when we got the alert. For the briefest of moments, there was a holy crap feeling. But almost immediately after that, my co-worker and I (as well as a few others along the way) felt it didn't pass the sniff test, so to speak. The fact that the civil defense sirens never went off was a big clue in regard to that. We joked about it a bit the rest of our shift. My co-worker in the frozen dept asked me to do the ordering for our next Friday sale tonight, and I told him, "why, we're not gonna be here tomorrow anyway!". Yeah, we have twisted senses of humor.
A friend of ours was with his family in Hawaii and got the text message as well. Last time they were there, apparently there was a tsunami warning.
