For the NFL. Between knowledge increasing about concussion repercussions and knees during the Star-Spangled Banner....how long before the NFL is a speck of what it is/was?

Should we list number of years and make a poll?

    What, the Ninnyhammer Foolishness League?

If there were ever a more irrelevant gather of human beings, I don't know what it is.
When your anti-trust waiver is firmly in the hands of the administration that you are excoriating, maybe it's time to rethink that strategery.

I think I could make a plausible link between traumatic brain injury and thinking that your kneeling during the Star Strangled Banner makes a tinker's snot in a snowstorm to anyone in the world that actually matters.

Don't really pay attention to NFL (or CFL for that matter).

    Forced patriotism?
As if any of these things actually constitute patriotism.

Taking an oath to defend the Constitution is patriotism.
Standing a post under arms is patriotism.
Having a friend of loved one who does so and supporting them is patriotism.
Being a responsible and truthful taxpayer is patriotism.
    Voting is patriotism.

Not sure that anything that anyone does at a sporting event in which the crowd screams for more bread and blood at the Circus is patriotic.

Americans, please explain -- why is kneeling disrespectful, when in every other context its respectful? Is it just the concussions, or...?

    It's called "taking a knee"

Often done at the end of a game to run out the clock when you don't have the courage to engage in a play.

The precise body stance is really inconsequential. Its just the breaking of the norm. "I will not stand at attention".
Its glorious. By doing absolutely nothing but let adults be adults, the NFL has proven itself to be one of the Free Speech's biggest allies.
Every day they put the liberal American college campuses to shame and humiliation.

I see nothing wrong with the gesture, but means little if the individual is not doing more outside of a gesture to bring about the change they are passionate about.

After watching the Dolphins on Sunday, I'm already done with football.

Gotcha, but I'm not so sure about that last bit. College campuses are all for this kind of thing, and for the kind of apologising we see from those who choose to stand (https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor...-pittsburgh-steelers-protest-trump/702056001/). It's just more nonsense, but at least the NFL is concussed and has an excuse.

How Milo Yiannopoulos's Berkeley 'Free Speech Week' Fell Apart
At first, conservative agitator Milo Yiannopoulos’s Free Speech Week in Berkeley, California, seemed like it might be a major event. Four straight days of provocative events on campus featuring right-wing luminaries, culminating with appearances by conservative writer Ann Coulter and former Trump White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, and all in the heart of one of the most symbolically resonant places Yiannopoulos could have chosen: the campus of University of California, Berkeley, a campus with a longstanding image as a hotbed of left-wing activism where protests shut down an event of his last year.

But things didn’t go according to plan.

Since professional hockey is 90% Canadians and Europeans, it tends to avoid many of the annoying aspects of Americana.

Its a shame that most (including American campuses) don't *realize* that colleges are being humiliated... but they are.
Here you have people taking a knee during the anthem in full knowledge that they "offend" masses of people. They know they bite the hand that feeds them. They do it anyway, and accept the consequences.
Meanwhile, on college campuses across the US and Canada the idea that one might even get a gender pronoun wrong strikes fear into the highest echelons of college leadership. Speech on campus *must* me controlled rigorously, unless someone is *offended*.

I just wish more conservatives realized the victory they're achieving by proxy via the NFL over the dominant millennial culture. I checked out *somewhere else* recently and it was endless comments of such fury you'd think these players were literally crucifying the firetrucking messiah before every game, then drinking the blood before gang raping the losing teams' wives. Blessed are the meek indeed!

You think you're immune, but Canada's time is coming.
The UN just decided that Canada needs to make reparations for its long history of oppression of POC. You might be shocked by this, but your shock won't matter because of your identity.
Soon Canada will know what its like to have *massed*senseless*insatiable*rage targeted at it.

I'm not sure I was suggesting immunity. Is the UN referring to the issues around First Nations peoples? This is certainly not a new development in Canada and has had extremely far-reaching effects in many areas of society and has much influence on my area of work as we tend to work on the traditional lands of these peoples. If it's something else, then I have not heard that yet.

No. Its very specific to the issue of slavery and treatment of black people.
Neverless, the immigration surge in a 2nd Inustrial revolution that displaces millions of workers will mean new workers can't find employment. That will most assuredly be blamed on the *current* sociological model of capitalism-light / whiteness.
Canada will find itself accused of the the most sadistic forms of racism and find itself with no-one to defend it.
