Why don't religious and non-religious people get along?

Wouldn't that be nihilism?

 

It's a believe that everything is meaningless, essentially. So I interpret it as "nothing" How you define it beyond that becomes an "existential crisis" where you can perceive everything has meaning or everything is meaningless, or somewhere in-between all depending on people's beliefs and religion.

 

No that's nihilism.

Atheism is just the absence of a belief in God/a god.

 

Actually, atheists do believe in a "god." They believe in and worship humanity. They believe mankind is constantly "evolving" and we'll someday come to some pinnacle of "perfection" where we'll solve all our problems and be "one with the universe."

 

Well, I kinda threw in the "one with the universe" thing, but New Age stuff is, at the heart of it, a type of humanism, as is atheism. Both say "there is no God...other than me." They don't need a God to be saved. They're quite capable of saving themselves, thank you very much...

 

Relationships are reciprocal or complimentary. There may be a way to have a dialog but there is no neutrality with Jesus. There is a way to be gentlemanly towards people and that is about it. As soon as you or they have something to say about someone else in this age, they will want to put their hands on you.
