Do you play any sports? I don't due to a health condition that I have, I'm not allowed to do so. I do enjoy watching hockey games though and if I was physically able to do so I would probably play Hockey as well. :)

I've been allowed to be in church volleyball teams and softball teams despite my mediocre performance.

Tried my hand at sports my first 2 years in high school. Failed miserably. I'm not a jock. Can swim fairly well (officially still certified as a scuba diver). Took karate a while back and did fairly well at it. Not really into sports.

I did a lot of sports including wrestling/martial arts and football 32 years ago. Now I just use a total gym and do solo katas to keep myself from turning into a pumpkin.
Once I hit my mid 40's I laid off the weight training and after that it seemed like even looking at food made me gain weight. So I did, a lot of it. Then I got the diabetes, had to drop 65 pounds and I'm finally back to a normal A1C and off the meds.

Probably more information than you wanted to know, eh?

Not really. Where I grew up football was a given. If you're a guy you play football -like it or not- and as much as I liked watching it I couldn't stand playing. So I switched to wrestling when I could and one of my friends/ teammates dad taught students Jiu Jitsu Brazilian style which helped out with the wrestling a lot.

I was referring to the weight drop and getting off your diabetes meds. Sorry, I was not clear.

I just finished coaching U8 soccer. I am not a soccer player by any stretch of the imagination although I do enjoy playing it. I guess the adage of those who can't do, teach. :)

    Oh! Sorry about that.

Yeah, that was hard because it was about changing and rearranging my mental and emotional food habits. Diets didn't work ( or my Dietitian was a quack. Either or ) so I had to make a "life change" and start looking at and thinking about food in a whole new way.

That's the thing isn't. You have to make changes that you can live with long term. Not the easiest thing to do, but certainly health concerns are good motivation.

Just yesterday a friend and I were talking about how popular Soccer has become with the kids here in the U.S. and how most of our friends kids play it - especially the girls for some reason.
All I know about Soccer is that they play it with a round ball and back in Europe the games can be really rough. Or at least that's what I've been told.

I thought soccer has always been pretty popular with kids. It certainly is a lot less costly equipment-wise compared to most other sports. It's a good gateway sport for a team sport. My boys just love it and it's very popular at school where they play at lunch and recess and even through the winter.

I "used" to play football. Made the painful mistake of playing tackle football with some friends.
