Why don't religious and non-religious people get along?

Discussion in 'Christians Answer' started by ChristianInspiration, May 31, 2017.

  1. I am religious to a degree and to those not religious at all I don't seem to get along with them to any degree, why do you think this is? Do you think simply conflicting issues of what we believe in, or do you think there is a much larger underlying problem, what's your thoughts?

I think religious and non-religious people CAN get along...if they want to. I think they often don't because either non-religious people think religious people are stupid for believing in a God that doesn't exist or because religious people think non-religious people are stupid for not believing in a God that does exist...

Or because they think we can be kind to and love a homosexual or pro-choice advocate.

I've never had a problem getting on with 'non-religious people' ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Likewise, I don't recall having any issues with non-religious people.

We must conclude, then, that the hit and run OP is simply a terrible person.

I'm a terrible person, and I know terrible persons when I seize them.

I'm "calling you out" on this. I've been interacting with you folks for over a decade now and I ask very similar questions. I hardly qualify as a "hit and run troll." You're being a bit presumptuous by saying the poster is a troll. Maybe they are. Maybe they're not. This poster is fairly new here. It's too early to tell.

I can outwardly be kind and civil to a homosexual or pro-choice advocate. On the inside I'm less than thrilled with their choices. With the homosexual, the idea of two men, or two women, sexually pleasuring each other in various ways is, shall we say, kinda nasty. Pro-choice advocates are ok with murdering babies. What exactly does "loving them" mean, anyway? I struggle with knowing what that is. Is it empathizing with their positions? To me that's condoning their sins. We're not supposed to do that. I was an adulterer on my wife. I hardly expected anybody to "empathize" or "understand where I was coming from" when I was banging some woman other than my wife. Is it having warm and tender feelings for them? I think that's unreasonable. We have warm and tender feelings with people that we form close relationships with. We don't form close relationships with every person we see.

The poster seems to be a cross-posting service; so, not a troll, but not around after the OP. As far as these OP's prodding on discussion: they're pretty bad (and the avatar is, frankly, strange).

Ok, but what does that look like? In what demonstrable and practical ways ways do you "love" somebody that you don't particularly like?

Meh. The avatar isn't that strange. It's merely, as I'm sure you know, a pictogram commonly used to denote being a male. In what way is the method the OP uses to prod on discussion bad? The questions are pretty straightforward and specific. They're not particularly difficult to understand. By the way, what is a cross-posting service?

And as such, is a strange choice. But, yours is a music note, so :p

The topic / thought put into it isn't exactly inspiring.

A cross posting service (or any kind of posting service) is where you hire someone to post on a forum, e.g., to prod discussion by creating threads.

How exactly do you define a religious person?
